Steiff 55PB (with certificate no box)

This significant piece of Teddy Bear history celebrates the 100th anniversary of the first jointed Teddy Bear. The bear, Bar 55PB, is a 1902 replica (Bar stands for Bear, 55 for his height in cm, P for plush, and B for beweglich, meaning movable), originally designed by Richard Steiff and faithfully recreated by contemporary Steiff artisans.

Bar 55PB stands 55cm tall and is fully jointed. He is meticulously sewn from dense rust-brown mohair with matching wool felt paws. Like the original, he is stuffed with excelsior and features expressive, glossy black boot button eyes and a molded sealing wax nose. This exquisite bear is a splendid reminder of Teddy Bear heritage!

This extraordinary piece is a Worldwide Limited Edition from 2002, with only 7,000 bears made. He comes boxed, although he is missing his certificate. Despite a small ding in the inner box, the bear itself is in beautiful, like-new condition from storage. The outer box is included.

This minor flaw does not detract from the beauty and iconic status of this bear.
